It is often said that bedroom design has a tendency to reflect the season’s fashion and so with the onset of winter and with Christmas fast approaching.
There is usually a divide between those who wish to reflect the icy weather in the style of their rooms and those that choose to rebuff the warmth in the room to compensate.
Colour matching is also important. Icy shades of blue and grey, combined with stark whites are great for making the icy presence of winter felt. How you choose to place these colours however is up to you. When placed in darkly coloured rooms, on perhaps a background of black bed linen and dark floors, the icy feel exuded by the more glacial shades will be accentuated by the stark contrast; to compensate, an abundance of furry throws and warm looking bedding will help to make the room look more inviting. For a true wintery feel however, use white or pale grey bed linen; this works brilliantly if you already have light floors and walls.
One of the easiest ways to dress up a Fitted Bedroom for winter is to invest in new soft furnishings. Rather than showing off your bed frame, you can opt for a flowing valance that is longer than the height of the bed, to give it a flowing feel that blends it in with the floor. This, when paired with fluffy down duvets, and throws of faux fur, can really create a feel of inviting warmth.
